Fact Of The Day:

The first penny, had the moto "mind your own business" - maybe this is where the expression 'a penny for your thoughts' came from? At any rate-- sometimes, it would be nice for people to mind their own business! lol

Speaking of money today- for a while now, I've been collecting $1 bills that have serial numbers in succession- I probably have a few dozen of them- but to my surprise, I got a series of 10 in a row about a week ago- I was really surprised- I thought this was something that was really rare to see, but I think it's becoming more and more common- oh well, it's still neat to get them and I'm going to continue to collect them as well- do you all collect anything 'silly' like that?

Heart Monitor & Trip To Burlington

Well, Megan's portable heart monitor was delivered Via FEDEX yesterday and I called and got that all set up for her- it's only about the size of a cell phone and really light weight so it's not that big of a deal, but to a 16 year old it is! lol - Last Friday when I took her to see the cardiologist, they found out that her heart is perfectly normal, but is a little small in size- so now, they want to monitor it for a month and see if it picks anything up on the monitor when she has these 'episodes' so to speak- she gets a lot of fast hard heartbeats and sometime flutters as well- the portable heart monitor will record these and then she has to call in to this 800 # and transmit it-- that is amazing don't you think- the world of technology never ceases to amaze me! She wants me to go to school with her Monday morning and explain to the principal how she has to call this number whenever something happens because she is afraid her teacher's are not going to understand! I'm sure they will and if they have a problem with it-- oh well, to bad! lol
On Friday of this next week, we head out to Burlington, Vermont to see the neurologist and to see if she (Megan) has a pinched nerve - it's about a 4 1/2 to 5 hour drive one way on a good day - so we will have to leave probably by 4 in the morning - not looking forward to that at all! I was going to travel over the night before, but Megan wants to shop for a prom dress while we are there, so I opted to get up early, go to the appointment- take care of all of that and then we can go shopping Friday night and Saturday for a dress and still get home at a decent time on Saturday night.
Other than the above going on, my week will consist of getting more items up for sale on the website!

Wagonteamster.com Man Seriously Injured

About 4 or 5 months ago, my father told me about a website where a gentlemen was traveling across America with 4 horses pulling a wagon he made - his website is here http://www.wagonteamster.com/ - we've followed his journey and enjoyed checking on him each day-- While I can't imagine only traveling 10 miles a day-- or up to 20 if he was lucky-- I admire what he was doing and found it interesting to read up on.

Today, my father sent me this article http://www.wmur.com/cnn-news/18693445/detail.html and on Tuesday Bob and his team of horses and wagon were hit by a tractor trailer - two horses have died, the wagon he spent so much time building in is a million pieces, and Bob is in the hospital with serious injuries - this is just so sad.

Valley View Market

As some of you know, I run a website called Valley View Market - it's sorta a one stop shop of sorts- I feature yummy recipes on it, crafts of different kinds, computer/paper craft printables, and so much more -

Today, I'm working on adding some new printables to the site, but I have to admit- I'm not very motivated today! I'm really not sure why-- but I just can't seem to keep my mind on anything and get it done!! Hopefully tomorrow will be more productive- although it's supposed to sleet/freezing rain so maybe I'll just stay in bed and cover up my head LOL

If you haven't checked out the website -- it's http://www.valleyviewmarket.com

Shopping Locally

For the past month, our front driver side car tire has been loosing air - since we've had the same tires on the car since we purchased it new two years ago, we decided just to put 4 new tires on the car so it would balance out and everything and we wouldn't have to worry about them.
Since we live in a very small area - we don't have a lot of choices on where to go to get things like this done- however, we have a Walmart and my first instinct was that they would be cheaper than any individual place around here-- BOY WAS I WRONG! Walmart wanted nearly $140 PER tire - we are talking over $500 just for tires for my car - I was like WOW and I remembered my Dad telling me to check with Morgan's which is a little one man owned gas station, small garage and used car dealership all combined- so I called there, and he charged us a total of $326 for the 4 tires, balancing, the $10 fee to get rid of the tires, etc. - he was fast, super nice and way cheaper than Walmart- I saved and I feel good about giving the business to him instead of to the chain store - so, it just goes to show, that sometimes it does pay to go with the smaller people and to take 5 minutes and do some checking around on things before just making a purchase.

I'm on the Count Down Now!!

Every winter, I like many other people get 'winter fever' - I just get so sick of looking at snow - I get sick of having to bundle up to go outside- I get sick of taking caution with every step I make so I don't fall when I do venture outside - I hate the dust my forced air furnace makes-- I could go on and on -- but, you get the picture I think !

Well, it's officially the time I can start counting down the moments until Daylight Savings Time starts again -- I LOVE how they moved the date ahead a couple of years ago - it really makes the winter seem shorter to me - although it's all in the mind, by this point, I'll take anything that makes me think Winter is coming to an end! Daylight Savings Time starts - at 2:00 AM on March 8th it begins -- that just 35 days away!! I'm so excited!!

I really dislike when we change the clocks in the fall as well, as I know the dreaded winter is coming-- but now, I start to think about the spring flowers, birds chirping, fresh cut grass--- ahhh--- a little piece of heaven :O)
